A Few More Details on the Program:

  1. Morning Lesson: Choose between Skate or Classic Skiing when signing up. The choose Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. If you have been skiing for a few years and have had some instruction on weight shift and positioning, please go for advanced to refine your technique.

  2. Guest Speaker: Cheryl McLachlan

Cheryl is a passionate leader in agriculture, education, and sport, with 33 years in 4-H and experience promoting youth and community through national and international programs. A goal-setter by nature, she trained with Canada’s Olympic bobsled team and competed globally in dragon boating from 2004 to 2008.

After retiring, she coached Rowbust, a Breast Cancer Survivor team, to ten National and four World titles. Now Head Coach of Team Canada BCP, Cheryl continues to inspire and build strong teams through sport, leadership, and hands-on motivation. She has returned from Germany, leading Team Canada BCP Dragon Boat to Gold at the World Championships.

Afternoon Activities: These last approximately an hour and a half. Choose ONE of the following activities:

  • Arrowhead Adventure: Experience Arrowhead Park in a whole new way!  From the creator of Muskoka’s Incredible Race comes a series of fun and wacky winter challenges to experience with a small group (both on skis and off).  Featuring versions of iconic Muskoka activities, such as creating a mini hockey rink, (a version of!) dog sledding and becoming an Arrowhead Park animal.  Come prepared for a laugh and leave with some good memories and a bit more understanding of the ecology of our area.  Suitable for all abilities.

  • Hok Skiing: Hok Skis or “Skishoes” are a hybrid of showshoes and skis. They are very wide, short skis with a long waxless skin. You use them with regular boots, and they’re great fun for off-trail skiing.

  • Biathlon: Become a self-proclaimed Olympian as you practise racing and target shooting on a mini biathlon course.

  • Yoga: Renew your energy after your morning ski lesson in an indoor yoga class.

  • Ice Skating: Arrowhead Provincial Park has a 1.3 km ice skating trail in the woods. See how many loops you can complete!

  • Guided Trail Skiing: Go for an extended guided ski on Arrowhead’s classic or skate trails. No lesson this time - just fun, laughter and ‘tips on the go’.
